NPA Facilitator Thoughts on Labor

Within the base of support of NPA, you could probably ask 100 people what they believe our primary focus should be, and get about 10 different answers - each of them a plank of the Unified Platform. But I've been giving it much thought in recent weeks, and have decided that there is one issue which ties all the others together: Labor.

2013-2015 Candidates

In 2012 the New Progressive Alliance endorsed 54 candidates from 23 states. These candidates sought seats ranging from school boards to sheriff to U.S. Congress (both houses) to the presidency - THREE for that last office alone! - are blazing the trail for the future of democracy in America. It is a trail very different than that which the Democratic and Republican parties take us down election after election, with the same predictable result: A disenfranchised working class and an ever-more enriched military-industrial-Wall Street complex.

Unfortunately, this is the worst time for the media in the over two centuries since Thomas Jefferson wrote that memorable quote. The three reasons for this are corporate takeover of both the electronic and print media, lack of resources, and "He says, She says" journalism. Journalism as we used to know it no longer exists except in a few isolated and largely ignored places.
